2. Brass Instruments
These instruments are similar to the wind instruments, but with few modifications. Their air column length can be altered with the pressure valves or slide mechanisms. One of the most common and popular example is a trumpet. Some other popular brass instruments are trombone, tuba, bugle and conch.
3. Percussion Instruments
To play these instruments, you have to strike the surface of the instruments to get desired voice. These instruments are further classified into two types. First is tuned and produces a definite pitch and some examples of them are vibraphone, marimba, tubular bells and timpani or kettle drum. On the other hand, second ones produce indefinite voice pitch and their examples are triangle, castanets, rattle cymbals and tambourine.
4. Electronic Instruments
These instruments are designed with latest technology and are very easy and simple to use as a sound producer. Some examples are piano keyboards, samplers, rhythm machines, synthesizers, etc.
5. String Instruments
These instruments are based on sound waves produced by string's vibration. The voice produced by such instruments depends on the length and the thickness of the strings used. Some of the most popular string instruments are guitar, cello, double bass, harp, violin and banjo.
6. Keyboard Instruments
These instruments are key based instruments. Desired voice is produced by pressing keys in a definite order. A good example of a keyboard instrument is Piano.
